Georgetown Lake Ride

Meet at 9:00, ride at 9:30             Travel time:  Missoula to the Cable Campground is 1 hr. 40 min.

The route will cover about 40 milesModerate level of difficulty with some steep up-hills and down-hills on forest trails.  Some gravel roads and sections with rocks.  Elevation up to 8200 ft. We will go past Fred Burr and Racetrack Lakes and make a loop past Hidden Lake.  We will ride to the top of the ”Sluice Box” on the way to Fisher Lake and you may turnaround or you can try to run the box.  Attached is a photo.

Directions:  I-90 East to exit at Drummond.  Turn right at stop light and head South on Hwy 1.  Go past Phillipsburg and up the hill to Georgetown Lake.  The steep rock cliffs are sandstones and mudstones that are 1.5 billion years old!  As the highway reaches the crest, the dam will be on your right.  Continue on the main highway until you see the sign for Discovery, making a left turn.  The 7 Gables Bar and Restaurant will be on your right. Continue on this road, at 0.7 miles stay left at the fork.  1.8 miles from there, turn right on Road 242.  In 250 yards, the Cable Campground is on the right and we can park at the gravel pit on the left.
