(We will leave for Saltese at 8:00 a.m.)
If you prefer to meet at the ride location, please be there by 9:30 a.m.
(The ride will begin about 10:00 a.m.)
How To Get There:
Travel west on I-90 to Saltese. Exit at Saltese, then turn left and pass underneath the interstate. Look for a gravel road on your right immediately past the I-90 east-bound on & off ramps. Turn right (west) on this gravel road. You have missed this road if you passed under an old railroad trestle. Once on the gravel road (which parallels the interstate), continue about ⅛ to ¼ mile until you find an area large enough to accommodate yourself and several other rigs or until you come across others already parked.
Do not block the roadway.
ATV’s & UTV’s of any size are fine. This will be an easy yet scenic loop ride. Our route will be mostly along gravel/dirt roads and old railroad grades. Our pace will be easy to moderate with opportunities for photos.
I estimate the distance to be 50 miles +/-. The duration of the ride will depend upon the number of riders, our pace and the number & duration of stops we make along the way.
Bring the usual things for an all day ride. Pack a lunch, snacks, plenty of liquids, a camera (or smart phone) and clothing necessary to accommodate the potential weather changes for this time of year. We shouldn’t need extra gas but bring it if you like.
Speaking of gasoline, if you need to gas up your machine in route, your last chance before Saltese is Haugan.
Saltese – Silver Lake – State Line Road – Dominion Creek Road – Taft – up through railroad Tunnel No.1 to Lookout Pass, Old Yellowstone Road, up past a mining site, on to Taft Summit then back to Saltese.
